The Palms Theatres and IMAX in Waukee is the newest and largest theatre in Iowa. The Theatre has heated recliners, fully immersive state of the art Dolby Atmos sound, and laser projection in all fifteen (15) auditoria. The facility boasts an 85’ wide IMAX screen that is nearly five (5) stories tall and is the largest in the state. The XL Digital, Fridley’s premium large format brand has a 75’ widescreen with 56 Dolby Atmos speakers. Eight (8) of the auditoria are full-service dine-in theatres with wait staff serviced by the restaurant which is branded as Rick’s Café Americain, named after the bar in the classic movie Casablanca. Rick’s Café Americain features a full-service bar, a 220-inch tv, two (2) floor to ceiling water features, a custom glass blown chandelier, and a heated exterior patio with a fire pit. The expanded concession serves Starbucks coffee, gourmet popcorn, ice-cream and includes a self-serve soda area with novelty soda flavors from Stubborn Soda. The cinema also has renewable energy with 1,500 solar panels on the roof and parking structure.
