CGV Van Ness

Project Description:

The renovated CJ CGV Cinema Van Ness transformed an existing 14-screen located at 1000 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, CA.  The historic building was originally the Don Lee Cadillac Showroom, one of the largest and most architecturally significant automotive showrooms on San Francisco’s Auto Row.  The cinema is located on levels 2 through 7 and includes nearly 88,000 square feet of interior space on three primary levels and about 2,300 seats spread over the 14 auditoriums.  Auditoriums include a 4DX auditorium, a Screen X Auditorium, an IMAX Auditorium, and an Auditorium featuring Dolby Atmos.

Food and beverage service features local and organic choices along with flavored gourmet popcorn branded as “Popcorn Factory”.  The design highlights “loft Style” expressed with concrete brick and steel.  The atrium that connects the levels provided the opportunity to pay homage to the steel structure of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.  Construction completed in August 2020.
